Perle Mesta was a well known socialite in the twentieth century who happened to reside on an entire floor within The Barclay. She was very wealthy from the inheritance she received from both her late husband and father. She was best known throughout the 1950’s as the “Hostess With The Mostess”. Harry S Truman and Dwight D. Eisenhower both attended parties that Perle Mesta hosted.
